“One of the primary laws of human life is that you become like what you worship; what’s more, you reflect what you worship not only to the object itself but also outward to the world around.” — N.T. Wright
WHY WE GIVE
We become what we worship. Those who worship idols become like them (Ps 115:8), and therefore those who worship God become like him, and God is abounding in generosity. When we give, we reflect the image of God to him and to the world: we sacrifice like he sacrificed, we serve like he served. Giving is an act of worship, a declaration of trust and dependence upon God for all things, and a declaration of independence from the idols of greed, control, and materialism. Furthermore, God has designed for the church to be sustained by the generosity of its members, and even for new churches or churches in need to be sustained by members from other churches (2 Cor. 8:14). Join us in supporting our mission to urban and university Madison.
